Mulberry tree bark
The branches of the mulberry shrubs are harvested in the autumn, and the innermost layer of bark (white bark) is stripped from the timber and boiled in a mixture of water and soda ash. The strips are then beaten by hand until they have been well separated.
The diffuser is formed by hand sewing each of the prepared clusters of fiber to a cotton grid, which has been fastened to the base structure.
The colour of the material is a soft white that yellows a little with age. To clean diffusers in this material, we recommend that they be dusted or lightly vacuumed.

Multi-Cloud at Rosewood Bangkok:
Bespoke Lighting by Ango
Above the central dining area at Lakorn, Rosewood Bangkok, three sizes of Ango’s Cloud light form a sculptural composition across the ceiling. Created and installed by Ango for an interior designed by Celia Chu Design Associates, Multi-Cloud brings depth, reflection and a gentle sense of movement to the restaurant.
The installation was composed for this space. Cloud’s open metal forms appear to float at different heights, catching the light at many small points. Together, they give the ceiling dimension while preserving the airy character of the room.
A Cloud Form Made by Hand
"Cloud" is an original Ango design. Its freeform metal structure is joined point by point by hand, allowing the shape to emerge through the making process. Each piece carries subtle variations; no two Clouds are exactly alike.
At Rosewood Bangkok, the three sizes work together as one installation. The composition has the delicacy of jewellery, expressed at the scale of the interior.
Cloud, Composed for the Space
The Rosewood installation is one expression of Cloud. In another interior, a single piece could sit above a dining table, a group could bring rhythm to a living room, or a series could descend through a stairwell.
Ango develops bespoke sizes and arrangements in response to the proportions of each space, the way the lights will be seen and the atmosphere they should create. Cloud is available in silver, copper and brass finishes; other colours can be explored for a custom project.
Working with Ango’s Studio
Ango was founded by architect and chief designer Angus Hutcheson. At its Bangkok studio, the design and artisan team develops bespoke lighting through a close exchange between spatial thinking and handmaking.
Ango works directly with project owners and collaborates with interior designers, architects and lighting consultants. Each commission begins with the character and proportions of the space, then takes shape through material, craft and light.
