Mulberry tree bark
The branches of the mulberry shrubs are harvested in the autumn, and the innermost layer of bark (white bark) is stripped from the timber and boiled in a mixture of water and soda ash. The strips are then beaten by hand until they have been well separated.
The diffuser is formed by hand sewing each of the prepared clusters of fiber to a cotton grid, which has been fastened to the base structure.
The colour of the material is a soft white that yellows a little with age. To clean diffusers in this material, we recommend that they be dusted or lightly vacuumed.

Ango Story
LIFE-ENHANCING
INNOVATIVE • SCULPTURAL LIGHTING
Every Ango piece is created in the believe that design can elevate the spirit, that sustainability can be deeply poetic, and that the gentle communality of light is reminder we are all connected.
Ango is admired for its craft, but remembered for its soul — for the belief interwoven into every fibre and form: that with light, there is always hope. As we continue our exploration of light, we invite you to discover our newest works loosely arranged around
ENFOLDING —
forms that embrace one another,
structures that connect and support,
designs that can be composed, layered,
and built into modular installations.
This approach empowers designers and project owners to create
dramatic groupings that respond to space, scale, and the emotional
atmosphere they wish to evoke.

Firmament 2 —
Hand-Worked Metal Sculptural Pendant
Firmament 2 introduces a striking organic form that interlocks with neighbouring pieces to create dynamic spatial compositions. Part of Ango’s jewellery series, each pendant is meticulously hand-worked in brass, nickel silver, or copper. Every connecting point is welded by hand, allowing multiple nodes of refracted light to appear almost phantom-like — suspended in space, with subtle variations of colour, depth, and luminosity.
Folded by Ango -
Wall Mounted Illuminated Art Object
Folded explores renewal through material, form, and light. Handcrafted from mulberry tree bark fibre and delicately folded with cocoon elements, each piece is freely shaped by hand, balancing experimentation with craft. The mulberry bark — seasonally harvested by village communities in Northern Thailand — is celebrated for its natural translucency and tactile texture. When illuminated, Folded emits a warm, calm glow, offering a quiet reminder that beauty can emerge from what was once left behind.

Transcendence 2 —
Diaphanous Mulberry Fibre Sculptural Pendant
Handcrafted in Thailand using Ango’s signature composite of mulberry tree bark fibre and recycled fishing-net material, Transcendence 2 evokes the presence of a floating luminous cloud. Entirely shaped by hand, the diffuser is formed through irregular wave patterns and delicate flux lines, creating a sense of weightlessness. Soft white pigmentation within the composite shell gently diffuses light from twin LED filament bulbs, producing a layered, atmospheric glow suited to dining spaces, living areas, and hospitality interiors.
Bounded by Ango —
Organic Sculptural Light Object
Bounded is a series of highly individual light objects that explore the tension between freedom and containment — a duality embodied through light itself. Originally conceived by Angus Hutcheson, each piece is handcrafted from an advanced composite of mulberry fibre, organic binders, and jute. The material gains its strength through being bound, collaged, and hand-painted, resulting in luminous sculptural objects that softly diffuse light and transform the atmosphere they inhabit.
Orbette Medium –
Sculptural Handcrafted Pendant Light
An evolution of Ango’s signature Orbette series, Orbette Medium continues the studio’s vision of transforming natural materials and Thai artisanal techniques into timeless light sculptures. Conceived as a modular lighting system alluding to infinity, the piece can exist as a singular statement or be composed into interlinked groupings. Handwoven in rattan by Ango’s in-house artisans, its organic geometry introduces depth, rhythm, and warmth to residential and hospitality interiors. An outdoor version is also available, crafted from recycled plastic waste with a fully waterproof light source.
