Mulberry tree bark
The branches of the mulberry shrubs are harvested in the autumn, and the innermost layer of bark (white bark) is stripped from the timber and boiled in a mixture of water and soda ash. The strips are then beaten by hand until they have been well separated.
The diffuser is formed by hand sewing each of the prepared clusters of fiber to a cotton grid, which has been fastened to the base structure.
The colour of the material is a soft white that yellows a little with age. To clean diffusers in this material, we recommend that they be dusted or lightly vacuumed.

Ango Story
Ango Custom lighting at W Hotel dining room with the spectacular “Rotating Worlds” installation.
The “Rotating World” was developed in conjunction with Architects P49 utilising the random weaving technique already developed on a smaller scale with the Hanging World ceiling light series.
For the project, 2 metre diameter revolving lights were created with a perforated canopy above which accommodates
the electric motor, and there is unforgettable impact in dining under such an enormous custom piece that is a rotating
globe of light.
The base structure to each light is clad using around 6 miles of specially extruded 1mm diameter rattan wire each strand woven by hand.
