Mulberry tree bark
The branches of the mulberry shrubs are harvested in the autumn, and the innermost layer of bark (white bark) is stripped from the timber and boiled in a mixture of water and soda ash. The strips are then beaten by hand until they have been well separated.
The diffuser is formed by hand sewing each of the prepared clusters of fiber to a cotton grid, which has been fastened to the base structure.
The colour of the material is a soft white that yellows a little with age. To clean diffusers in this material, we recommend that they be dusted or lightly vacuumed.

Ango Story

Orbette M by Ango at La Maison Valmont, Munich
A Sculptural Presence Within a Curated Artistic Interior
At La Maison Valmont, Munich, the interior unfolds as an artistic composition—where scientific precision, nature, and art de vivre inform the space.
Within this refined environment, Ango’s Orbette M is introduced not simply as lighting, but as a sculptural presence that completes the dialogue between art, sculpture, and light.
A Curated Artistic Interior
Conceived as more than a retail setting, Valmont Munich is a gallery-like interior shaped by atmosphere, materiality, and experience. Every element is considered—each contributing to a space that feels intimate, composed, and quietly immersive.
It is within this context that Orbette M finds its place, suspended in two separate dynamic compositions.

Light as Sculpture
Officially launched at the Maison et Objet in Paris, January 2026, Orbette M embodies Ango’s approach to sculptural lighting.
The organic form of the piece and the warmth of its light diffusion are seamlessly integrated into the experience of the space.
In a setting dedicated to the pleasure of body and mind, the subtle diffused light contributes to an atmosphere of calm and refinement.
The Fineness of Natural Rattan
Handcrafted in Thailand, Orbette M is formed from natural rattan extruded to an exceptionally fine 1 mm thickness.
This delicate material allows light to diffuse with remarkable softness, creating a warm, ambient glow that envelops the surrounding interior. Each strand is placed using Ango’s signature random-weave technique, resulting in a structure that feels both intuitive and composed—organic in expression, yet precise in execution.
There is a quiet honesty in the material. Over time, the rattan deepens in tone, acquiring a richness that reflects the passage of time—bringing a sense of life and continuity into the space.

A Dialogue of Art, Sculpture, and Light
Within La Maison Valmont, Munich, Orbette M becomes part of a curated dialogue—where art, sculpture, and light are held in careful balance.
Its presence supports rather than competes, allowing the interior to unfold with clarity and intention. The interplay between handcrafted texture and architectural precision creates a tension that is both subtle and compelling.
Here, lighting is not an addition, but an integral layer of the experience—shaping how the space is perceived, inhabited, and remembered.
A Natural Expression of Light
Balancing natural materiality with refined craftsmanship, Orbette M reflects Ango’s enduring philosophy: that light, when thoughtfully shaped through sustainable design, has the ability to elevate both space and spirit.
At Valmont Munich, this philosophy is realised in its most subtle form—where light does not seek attention, but instead reveals the quiet beauty of everything around it.
